Learn more about Chris Norman
In this workshop with master teacher Chris Norman, you will explore the folk music of Scotland, Ireland, Cape Breton, and Quebec. You are also invited to try improvisatory, learned-by -ear elements of classical styles including renaissance, baroque and some contemporary music. In short, this workshop will encourage you to leave the printed page to find your own musical voice.
Participants will explore a variety of folk and baroque inspired compositions specifically designed to introduce players to the world of flute playing in the traditional, renaissance and baroque styles - music that all comes from oral traditions (learned by ear) and encourages a sense of improvisation and creativity in sound and form.
This workshop offers a unique, friendly, non-competitive and encouraging environment. No auditions are held for placement. It is meant to be a fun learning experience!
